NORMAN “NORM”
Age 88, of North Braddock, on Monday, May 14, 2018, with his loving family at his side, Norman Richard “Norm” Irvin, of North Braddock, entered life eternal. He was born on Saturday, October 19, 1929. He was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Wohar who died on September 9, 2017. Norm was the owner of Norm's Auto Body in North Braddock for 60- plus years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and he also served North Braddock as a former mayor. He was the devoted father of six children, Richard (late Donna Lee) of North Braddock, Diane (Tom) Whyel of North Braddock, Kathleen “Kathy” Bechtold of North Braddock, And Norma Jean (Phillip) Novak of North Braddock, and the late David Dwayne Irvin and the late David Thomas Irvin. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and another great-grandchild that will be born this summer; a sister, Mary Jane (Bill) Archer; and a brother, James “Henry” (late Cookie) Goodfellow. Beside his parents, David and Elizabeth Norman Irvin, and his two sons, he was preceded in death by his sister, Annabell (late Bill) Dinkfelt, Eugene Irvin and Betty Lou Sadler. Calling hours with the family will be on Thursday from 2-8 p.m. in the SCHLEIFER FUNERAL CHAPEL, (412-271-1361), 534 Jones Avenue, North Braddock, PA. The Family has provided for flowers, and ask that memorial donations in Norm's name be made to the Shriners Hospital, 1645 West Eighth Street, Erie, Pennsylvania 16505 or to Allegheny Hospice and Palliative Care, 4818 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. Burial with full United States Army Military Honors being rendered will be in All Saints Cemetery. He will then be laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Betty.
