Dr. John Brent Scott, of Boynton Beach and formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 9, 2017. He was 54. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 26, 1963, he is the loving son of Jack A. and Carol Ann Scott (Pawlak). Brent was a graduate of Fox Chapel High School, Fox Chapel, PA in 1982. He then attended as a pre-med student at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. Graduating in 1986, Dr. Scott went on to complete his residency in Periodontics at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Scott is survived by his parents; his brother, Michael Douglas Scott (Christine); and is the uncle of Dustin, Tryphtin, Kianna, and Riley Scott. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at HORIZON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064, where a ceremony to commemorate "Brent's Parting Words" will start at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will follow on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale (South Chapel), 2101 W. Cypress Creek Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309. Private Burial Services will be held at a later date.
