Age 89, of Wilkins Twp., formerly of Rankin and Regent Square, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2018. Domenic was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather, and friend. He was born February 21, 1929, in Rankin, son of the late Domenic and Carmella (Carchio) Petrarca. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers, Paul, Nicholas, Samuel, and Tony Petrarca; sisters, Josephine Dalonzo, Mary Caputo, Agnes Paesano, Antionette Petrarca, and Carmella Coffee. Domenic is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois (Smith) Petrarca; sons, Domenic Petrarca (Mary Pat) of Gibsonia, and David Petrarca (Diane) of Swissvale; daughters, Lisa Buettner (John) of Wilkins Twp., Leanna Ballog (Mark) of Wilkins Twp., Lynn Perla (David) of N. Huntingdon, and Lori Factor of Trafford; grandchildren, Brittany Edmiston (Brett), Domenic John Petrarca, Maria and Angela Petrarca, John and Lois Ballog, Paige and Grace Perla, Samantha and Sydney Factor, Lisa, Rachel and Luke Buettner; a sister, Cecilia Marchitello of Swissvale; and also numerous nieces and nephews. After 38 years, Domenic retired in 1985 as Supervisor with the Forging Division at Homestead Works. As a devout Catholic, he was a lifelong member of Madonna del Castello Parish in Swissvale where he was a dedicated volunteer and active member. He took communion to Catholic patients at the former Braddock General Hospital for many years and also to the infirmed at home. Domenic was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus All Saints Council #6118 of Swissvale, and also a founding member of St. Simeone Celebration where he served on the committee for 58 years. Friends will be received 5-7 p.m. Saturday and 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. Sunday at THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7441 Washington Ave., Swissvale, PA, 412-271- 0345. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 10 a.m. at Madonna del Castello Church, Swissvale. Memorial donations may be directed to the church.
