Dr. Richard L. Moreland, age 66, of Wexford, PA, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, passed away at home on November 18, 2017, from natural causes associated with several illnesses. Dr. Moreland was born in St. Francis, Kansas to Richard I. Moreland and Barbera Lee Smith. The family moved to Boulder, Colorado, where he resided until graduation from the University of Colorado in 1973. Following his graduate schooling at the University of Michigan, he joined the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh until his retirement in 2013. He married Nancy Rudduck, of Boulder, Colorado in 1972. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; and brother, Dann Moreland, both of Wexford, Pennsylvania, brother, Joel Moreland and his wife, Deb, of Platteville, Colorado, sister, Lee Moreland Cook, of Springfield, Oregon; and sister-in-law, Arlene Rudduck, of Broomfield, Colorado; also surviving are nieces and nephews, Tracy and Matt Ray, Eddie Hudson, Holly Hudson-Cobb and Zachary Cobb, and Alyssa and Camron Stockford; many cousins and their families; and numerous friends. He was a witty, gentle, caring man, respected by his many colleagues around the world for his scientific achievements. He will be missed by all. Funeral arrangements were private.
