Age 81, of Upper Saint Clair, died peacefully on June 18, 2018. He was an original Renaissance man. Hall of fame drag racer, family man, golf enthusiast, master carpenter who published a dollhouse designs book, accomplished pianist, computer whiz / programmer, US Army specialist during the Vietnam War, die-hard Pittsburgh Penguins fan, loving father and husband, and proud member of the American Legion Post 54 in Bridgeville, PA. Rich was a pillar in his community and loved by all. Rich dedicated his career to Typecraft Press, the family business, from 1973 to 2002, last serving as the Vice President. Rich is survived by his loving wife, Louise Major (Brickell); daughters, Melissa Manning, Nicole Zill, and Kelly Maganti; sons, Richard Major II, Matthew Major, and the late John Smith, Jr.; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, John (Jr.) and Edward Major (sister, Mildred Klein, deceased). Friends and family will be received at BEINHAUER - FRYER FUNERAL HOME, 430 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017, Tuesday from 9-11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass in St Gabriel Church at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 54 in Bridgeville, PA or St Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Church, Parish Share Program (412-881-8115).
