LIPCHAK
GEORGE A.
Of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017. Beloved son of the late George and Margaret (Belo) Lipchak. He is survived by his daughter, Elana Lipchak, of Hoboken, NJ; and a brother, David Lipchak, of Squirrel Hill. Age 67, George grew up in Emsworth, Pennsylvania and attended Carnegie Mellon University, Denison University in Granville, Ohio, the University of Hawaii, and was a North Catholic High School graduate. George leaves family, friends, collaborators, and colleagues in the places he lived throughout his life, including Pittsburgh, New York City, Barcelona, and Roda de Bara, Spain. He became an international artist, sculptor, and jewelry maker whose work was exhibited in the U.S. and Europe. For forty years he traveled extensively, especially to Catalonia, Spain, where residents, fellow artists, and the light and colors of the country highly influenced him. Always a unique character whose thoughts, words, and ideas never stopped, he now rests among many of his fellow artists and friends who have gone before him. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME, 2630 West Liberty Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15216, (412-531- 4000).
