KNESS
ROBERT “BOB”
Of North Strabane, formerly of Upper St. Clair, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2017, after spending his final days surrounded by his family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joan, and his children, Lynn (Jerome) Nelson, Robin Wertz, Mark (Kim) Kness, and Sandy (Andy) Casper. He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Stephen, Lindsey, David, Abby, Catherine, Matthew, John, Emily, Ava, Mia, Jack and Max. Bob is also survived by a sister, Donna Hedges, of Florida. After graduating from St. Martin Catholic School, Bob entered the Army and upon returning, married Joan and started a career as a stockbroker. They moved to Upper St. Clair, where they raised their family and Bob became the owner of Dankar Fire Equipment Co. and Industrial Safety Supply, Inc. Bob loved the water and many of his happiest times were spent on his boat, fishing at Deep Creek Lake, MD, where family and friends often gathered. In later years Bob's favorite times were spent with his grandchildren, whether cheering them on at their sporting events or playing marathon sessions of cards and dominos. Bob also enjoyed friends gathered on his back porch, with the Bucs on the radio. Family and friends are welcome at BEINHAUERS, PETERS TOWNSHIP, on Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and 4:00-8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Benedict of the Abbott Church, McMurray, followed by interment in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Please add tributes at
