Formerly of Bethel Park, PA, passed away surrounded by his wife and children in Suwanee, GA, on February 7, 2018. Jack was 91 years young. He was born on January 26, 1927, in Beckley, WV, to John Newman and Thelma Sadler Kite. A graduate of Williamson High School in Williamson, WV, Jack later attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. He was on the swim team and graduated in 1949 with a degree in business administration. He arrived in Pittsburgh in 1950, where he worked for Mosebach Electric and Supply Co. as an outside salesman for 41 years selling electrical equipment to companies including US Steel, Consolidated Coal, and Fisher Body. He retired in 1991. An Eagle Scout himself, Jack served as an assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 228 at Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC). He was instrumental in the donation of an observation deck from Hatfield's Ferry power station, near Waynesburg, PA, for BSA use at Patton's Farm. He loved to fish, golf, bowl, play bridge, sail, and travel. He loved Pittsburgh and was an avid Steelers fan. With an associate of Buss Fuse Co., Jack succeeded in updating a mine safety law. He was also a life member of Masonic Lodge #970 in Stone, KY. Jack is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mollie Prah Kite; son, John Franklin Kite and spouse, Karen Zelinsky Kite of Pennsylvania Furnace, PA; daughter, Susan Kite and spouse, Stephen Lee Tolbert; granddaughter, Jessica Kite Tolbert of Suwanee, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Woodfin Kite of Pearisburg, VA. A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment in the Columbarium at CUMC in Bethel Park, PA.
