FITCHWELL
JAMES L., Jr. “JIMMY” “FITCH”
On Monday, November 13, 2017, Jimmy found peace, eternal life and happiness (!) in the arms of God Our Father, his adoring dad and many other family and friends who have gone before him. Born in Pittsburgh Hospital on August 25, 1953, Jimmy was the first-born son of mother, Leah Norinne Fitchwell and father, the late James L. “Jimmy” Fitchwell, Sr. He is survived by his beautiful daughter, Jennifer Lynne Fitchwell (Harry Inks); and his 'champion' grandson, Maliki Inks; sister, Peggy (Gary) Fitchwell-Hill; and nephew, Jimmy Hill; brothers, Brian Fitchwell, Craig (Chris) Fitchwell; and nephews, Camden and Devin, Ken (Donna) Fitchwell, nephews, Alan and Tony Fitchwell; and 'Uncle' to Jeffrey Vollrath; nephew of Kathy Opatka and 'Uncle' to Josh Opatka; also surviving is former wife, Barb Thorn, Jennifer's mother. Many, many aunts, uncles, and dozens of cousins and neighborhood friends all share the fondest memories of his music, great conversation, pranks, and 'merry-making.' Jimmy, a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Penn State University McKeesport undergraduate, was a professional bass guitar player and songwriter. An avid hockey fan, Jimmy played hockey in high school and college and was one of the original, Pittsburgh Penguins' Bob Wortawich's Polish Army. A career long nuclear maintenance engineer and international shipping agent for Westinghouse Corporation, he called himself, “An unsung hero at the Three Mile Island “accident,” also, “Uncle Good Guy” and “best friend” to so many, including Buddy, the family dog. Mass will be celebrated at St. John Fisher Church, 33 Lewin Lane, Pittsburgh, PA 15235 at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017, followed by a “Celebration of Life” luncheon at the home of his sister, Peggy Fitchwell-Hill, 60 Churchill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, helping the family recoup the expenses for Jimmy's care over his hard-fought battle with cancer these past two years would be greatly appreciated. The family sends special thanks to Gerry Meyer, Funeral Director and JOBE Funeral Home for their guidance and care during this difficult time. “TAKING IT TO 11, FITCH” … “GO PENS!” Arrangements entrusted to the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREAMTORY, INC., Turtle Creek, (412-823-1950).
