Age 86, passed away at home August 31, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Ferraro; his four children, Michael (Rose), Susan (Bob) Cutter, Steven (Silvia), and Kristen; his eight grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Anthony, Alissa, Natalie, Catherine, Ivan, and Oscar; and one great-grandchild, Matteo. He was predeceased by his father, Gabriel Ferraro, mother, Assunta Puglesse Ferraro; brothers, Joeseph and Louis, and sister, Lucille. A native of Pittsburgh, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1952 with a Bachelor's of Art in Education and 1956 with a Master's of Education. He served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 as an artillery instructor, and was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He was a member of Sigma Chi and a football official in both New Jersey and Florida. A lover of education, he received Outstanding and Dedicated service awards from the New Jersey High School Football Association, Roxbury Football, and Randolph High School, where he was an Assistant Administrator, Guidance Director, and Football Coach. He was an official for numerous sports and loved reading, golfing, and the ocean. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Palm Harbor in 1985 where he was an active member of the Dunedin Country Club. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Boys Town or St. Jude's in his honor. THE NATIONAL CREMATION SOCIETY is handling the arrangements and a memorial will be held at a future time and date.
