Robert M. Colecchia, age 77, of Avalon, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. Son of the late Anthony and Columbia (Viscusi) Colecchia; brother to Tony (Chris) Colecchia and Ann Marie (Ed) Huber; devoted uncle to Dana Getz, Andrea Korade, Sarah Cardosi and Joshua Huber; great-uncle to Maia and Anna Getz, Luca and Jonah Korade, Anthony and Maria Cardosi, and Eli and Scarlett Huber. Bob's passion in life was food, and his love of gardening and cooking earned him the nickname "Farmer Bob". He was a graduate of Oliver High School and worked as a draftsman/designer for PennDot for over 30 years. A US Navy veteran, Bob served aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for the exceptional care given to Bob at the hospice center at West Penn Hospital. Friends invited Monday 1-3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until time of services at 7 p.m. at the ORION C. PINKERTON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1014 California Ave., Avalon. Interment with military honors Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
