• HAPPY 99th BIRTHDAY!! Born 192...

Born 1920, Herbert R. Bunting is celebrating his 99th birthday now with his son, daughter and son-in-law.
Herb is a graduate of Coraopolis High School, who earned his BS in Music Education from Duquesne University in mid-1930s, and married Coraopolis native Wanda M. McBride in 1942.
1942 is also when Herb joined the US Army's 99th Infantry Division Band, surviving 36 months of WWII (Germany). He returned to Pittsburgh to attain his Masters in Fine Arts on classical piano in 1948 from then Carnegie Tech.
As members of the Greatest Generation, he and Wanda bought their house in 1951 in the North Hills, owning it for almost 68 years.
As a hard-working high school orchestral music teacher, Herb retired in the early 1970's from Pittsburgh's City Public Schools, after first 7 years at Avonworth High School, then 13 years each at Oliver and Taylor Allderdice High Schools respectively, with more years thereafter as a substitute AP English Lit teacher.
He taught private music lessons for years, and music composition, history and individual instrumental classes Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Board of Education's Center for the Musically Talented (early 1970's).
His cool side really came out as lead trumpet on ballroom dance band gigs 25 years+ with Barry Blue & his Orchestra, playing most Saturday nights 1970's - early 1990's around the tri-state area.
We wish Herb Bunting all our love, continued happiness in his good health, + lots of peace & quiet with his family.
